Athletes from Under 13s through to Masters age groups gathered at Clickimin on Sunday for the Shetland Amateur Athletics Club Championships, sponsored by Jamieson’s of Shetland.  The Championships marked the final home competition of the outdoor season and despite the windy conditions there were some great performances from the athletes.

Shetland AAC Chairperson Elaine Park commented, “This was a great conclusion to the home competition calendar and the athletes all did themselves proud.  There has been a lot of hard work and hours spent in training and although the competition conditions were not ideal for record breaking, the determination and effort was clear to see from all athletes.  The competitive season seems to have flown by this year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jamieson’s of Shetland for sponsoring this event.  I would also like to put our coaches and officials front and centre as without them we would not have the opportunity to see what Shetland’s athletes are capable of and to see the personal development of each of them through involvement with our sport.  To the athletes, congratulations on your season and for applying yourselves to your training to achieve what you have done this year.”
