Shetland AAC was well represented at the Shetland Sports Awards 2019

The Club had nominees in several categories. They were as follows:

Caitlin Watt for Technical Official of the Year

David Wagstaff for Coach of the Year

Louise Jamieson for Coach of the Year

Katie Dinwoodie for Young Sportsperson of the Year

Seumas Mackay for Sportsperson of the Year

Caitlin Watt had helped out at two of the Club’s OGMs through the summer whilst she had been home on holiday. The Scottish Athletics Events Co-Ordinator also worked tirelessly through the year organising national events across the country. David Wagstaff and Louise Jamieson were nominated after their work with Seumas Mackay and Katie Dinwoodie respectively through the season with both athletes winning medals in Gibraltar. Katie Dinwoodie won Gold in the Island Games 200m and Bronze in the 100m also. She had also won national medals and represented Scotland throughout the year. Seumas Mackay retained his 800m Island Games Title in the summer and went on to break his own Shetland record for the same event in his last race of the season.

Club athlete Finn Regan was also nominated for Young Sportsperson of the Year for his Football

All of the Clubs nominees were up against stiff but deserving opposition. Dinwoodie came out on top in her category to win Young Sportsperson of the Year after an incredible season. Highlights of her season featured international appearances and Gold and Bronze medals at the Island Games.
